Surya help Mumbai to move at 3rd place in IPL 2023
In the IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2023, Mumbai Indians successfully chased a target of 200 runs without any stress. Suryakumar Yadav and Nehal Wadhera played a crucial role in the chase, scoring 140 runs off just 64 balls in a sensational partnership. Mumbai Indians rose from No. 8 to No. 3 in the points table after this win.
Jason Behrendorff gave Mumbai Indians a strong start by dismissing Virat Kohli and Anuj Rawat early on. However, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell led a counter-attack, taking RCB from 16 for 2 to 56 for 2 after six overs. They scored 120 runs off just 60 balls before Maxwell got out.
After du Plessis got out, RCB’s middle order struggled to score runs, but Dinesh Karthik and Kedar Jadhav provided some momentum towards the end. RCB finished with a score of 199 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.
Mumbai Indians lost two quick wickets in their chase but then Suryakumar and Wadhera played sensibly to keep up with the required run rate. However, Suryakumar’s explosive hitting in the 11th over of Mumbai Indians’ innings turned the game around. He scored a quickfire 83 runs off just 35 balls, hitting sixes at will. Mumbai Indians eventually won the match by 7 wickets with 8 balls to spare.
