IPL 2023 31st Match PK vs MI: April 22, 2023

Arshdeep’s magical last over

Punjab Kings’ innings started slowly and lacked momentum, with Harpreet Singh Bhatia and Sam Curran struggling to score runs early on. After 14 overs, they were only at 105 for 4, with Bhatia scoring just 15 off 16 balls and Curran 8 off 12. However, in the next six overs, they managed to turn the game around and add a massive 109 runs. Bhatia ended with 41 off 28, Curran 55 off 29, and Jitesh Sharma 25 off just seven, lifting the Kings to a formidable total of 214 for 8. This impressive performance helped the team secure a 13-run win and move up to fifth position with eight points from seven games.
Despite the Kings’ strong start, the Mumbai Indians were always in the game thanks to Rohit Sharma’s 44 off 27 balls and Cameron Green’s 67 off 43. Suryakumar Yadav also played a crucial role in keeping the team in the running, scoring a quick-fire 57 off just 26 balls. However, it was Arshdeep Singh who stole the show with his heroics at the death, dismissing Suryakumar in the 18th over and conceding just two runs while breaking the middle stumps of Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera with back-to-back deliveries. These impressive performances helped the Kings secure a hard-fought victory.
Before his heroics at the death, Arshdeep Singh dealt Mumbai an early blow by sending back Ishan Kishan in the second over of the chase. However, Rohit and Green didn’t let that deter them and kept finding boundaries at regular intervals. The pair hit five fours and three sixes in the powerplay to take Mumbai to 54 for 1 after six overs. Despite losing Rohit in the tenth over, Mumbai remained in the game, with Suryakumar and Green continuing to score runs and keep the team in the contest. However, with 40 runs needed from the last three overs, Arshdeep’s impressive bowling helped secure the win for the Kings.
Kings’ innings got off to a slow start after being sent in to bat, with Matthew Short getting dismissed in the third over. However, the team managed to bounce back and score 58 runs for 1 wicket by the end of the powerplay, thanks to Prabhsimran Singh and Atharva Taide. Unfortunately, Chawla’s double-strike in the tenth over left the Kings struggling at 83 for 4. Bhatia and Curran then consolidated for a while, scoring only 22 runs from the next four overs. However, they managed to pick up the pace and accelerate towards the end of the innings, scoring an impressive 109 runs in the last six overs to secure a massive total of 214 for 8.

Final Score
